Wander through the narrow lanes, sample local delicacies, and browse for souvenirs. Visit Jama Masjid, one of India's largest mosques. Explore the impressive building and enjoy the view from the minarets overlooking the surrounding old city.

Then, head to New Delhi and visit Qutb Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the tallest brick tower in the world. Admire the impressive architecture and inscriptions that tell the history of this historic site.

Next, take a panoramic drive in the government district.

01.11.2024: DELHI-AYODHYA By The Fastest Train Of India "Vande Bharat Express" (06:10 - 14:30) - DIWALI FESTIVAL

Early morning transfer to the train station. Ride on India's fastest train, Vande Bharat Express, to Ayodhya. Arrival at 14:30 in Ayodhya and transfer to the hotel.

In the evening, we will go to the Sarayu River Ghat to celebrate Diwali with the locals. The Diwali festival in Ayodhya on the banks of the Sarayu River is a fascinating experience. The city is adorned with lights, from small lamps to spectacular fireworks. People flock to the temples to offer prayers and perform rituals. There are colorful processions, cultural events, and traditional performances that enliven the streets. It's a time of joy, celebration, and coming together for families and communities.

Ayodhya, a historic city in India, is famous for its religious significance and rich culture. During a visit, one can explore the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, the birthplace of the Hindu god Lord Rama. Additionally, there is the Hanuman Garhi Temple dedicated to the monkey god Hanuman, and the Kanak Bhawan Temple dedicated to Lord Rama and his wife Sita. The city is also known for its ghats on the Sarayu River, where one can enjoy the spiritual atmosphere.

Unterwegs statten wir einen Besuch vom Kaiserbagh Palace. Dieser königliche Palast in Lucknow ist ein architektonisches Juwel und ein Zeugnis der Pracht der Awadh-Dynastie. Auch wenn der Palast heute teilweise in Ruinen liegt, kann man immer noch die beeindruckende Architektur und die schönen Gärten erkunden.

Full-day visit to Kolkata city: The capital of West Bengal, formerly known as Calcutta and recently renamed Kolkata, is situated on the Hooghly River (the name for the Ganges in Kolkata). Its proximity to the river and the sea has made it a significant commercial center.

Kali Temple: The goddess Kali is the patron deity of Kolkata, and Bengalis worship this goddess with such passionate devotion that it creates an intoxicating spiritual blend for a first-time visitor. Among the many Kali temples that exist in Kolkata and Bengal, Kalighat is one of the holiest Kali temples.

Victoria Memorial (closed on Mondays): A fascinating architectural masterpiece converted into a museum housing the most memorable artifacts and collectibles from the British colonial era. The building, constructed from white marble from Jodhpur, serves as a monument to Queen Victoria.

7:30 AM: Departure from the hotel by car.
10:30 AM: Arrival at Godhlhali boat dock. Ferry departs. Breakfast served.
12:45 PM: Visit to Becon Bungalow and Hamilton Sahib Bungalow in Gosaba village.
1:30 PM: Lunch on the ferry. Cruise through the largest mangrove forest in the world. Spectacular!
4:45 PM: Arrival at Pahkirala.
7:00 PM: Evening snacks and tea.
10:00 PM: Dinner. It's just that dinner is served so late.

08.11.2024: SUNDARBANS-KOLKATA

7:00 AM: Start of the delta safari by boat. An incredibly beautiful journey through several lagoons and small rivers in the Sajnekhali area, where, among others, the Royal Bengal Tiger resides.

11.11.2024: BOGHGAYA-RAJGIR-NALANDA-BOGHGAYA

Departure to Rajgir. Start your day early and head to Rajgir, a historic city in Bihar, India. The journey takes about 2-3 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

Rajgir Ropeway: Upon arrival in Rajgir, you can take the Rajgir Ropeway to reach the hill hosting the famous Vishwa Shanti Stupa. From here, you'll have a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.

Vishwa Shanti Stupa: Visit the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, also known as Peace Pagoda. This monumental stupa was built to promote world peace and provides a serene atmosphere for meditation and contemplation.

Griddhakuta Hill: Take a short hike to Griddhakuta Hill, also known as Vulture’s Peak, a sacred site of Buddhism where the Buddha delivered many discourses. Enjoy the view from this historic site.

2. Bodhi Tree: The nearby Bodhi Tree, under which Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment and became the Buddha, is another important site for believers. Take time to meditate under this sacred tree and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
3. Archaeological Museum: Visit the Archaeological Museum of Bodh Gaya to see an impressive collection of relics and artifacts from Buddhist history. Learn more about the history and development of Buddhism in the region.

After breakfast, we drive 250 km to Varanasi.

On the way, we visit the Tomb of Sher Shah Suri in Sasaram, one of the most important historical monuments in Sasaram. It was built in the 16th century and serves as the final resting place for the famous ruler Sher Shah Suri, who founded the Sur Empire. Sasaram is known as the birthplace of Sher Shah Suri.

14.11.2024: VARANASI-SARNATH-VARANASI

Begin the day early with a boat trip on the sacred Ganges to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the river and feel the spiritual atmosphere of the city. Then, visit the Ghats of Varanasi, especially the Dashashwamedh Ghat, to witness the traditional rituals and prayers taking place along the banks of the Ganges. Afterwards, take a stroll through the narrow lanes of the old city to experience the vibrant life, colorful markets, and ancient temples.

To fully appreciate a visit to Varanasi, one must understand the city's silk-weaving tradition. To gain a better understanding of this tradition, visit the weavers of Varanasi.

Return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast.

After a short pause, head to Sarnath, an important Buddhist pilgrimage site located about 10 km from Varanasi. There, you can visit the Dhamek Stupa and the Ashoka Pillar, significant historical sites associated with the arrival of Buddha in Sarnath. The day begins with "Subah-e-Banaras," a morning spiritual experience on the banks of the holy Ganges River in Varanasi. During this event, pilgrims and visitors gather by the river to witness the sunrise and commence the day with religious rituals and prayers. The atmosphere is filled with the sound of hymns and mantras as people offer flower garlands and ghee lamps into the Ganges water to express their reverence and seek spiritual purification. Subah-e-Banaras is a unique experience that reflects the deep spiritual significance of Varanasi, providing visitors with insight into the city's vibrant religious culture.

Then, we'll head to Banaras Hindu University (BHU), where I also studied. BHU in Varanasi is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in India, offering a wealth of attractions and activities for visitors. Some of the key things to see at BHU include:

New Vishwanath Temple: Another impressive temple on the BHU campus, featuring modern architecture and often referred to as the "Birla Temple."

BHU Museum: A museum showcasing an extensive collection of artifacts, artworks, archaeological finds, and historical items, providing insight into India's history, culture, and traditions.

BHU Gardens and Parks: BHU boasts extensive and well-maintained gardens and parks, ideal for strolling, relaxing, and enjoying nature.

Faculties and Institutes: BHU is divided into various faculties and institutes, including faculties of engineering, medicine, natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Visitors can explore the architecture of these institutions and possibly attend public lectures or events.

Morning visit to Panna Tiger Reserve.

18.11.2024: KHAJURAHO-AGRA By The Fastest Train of India, "Vande Bharat Express"

Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a sightseeing tour of Khajuraho. We can admire the temple architecture and intricately carved statues of gods and goddesses from Indian mythology. They are artistically carved from stone and feature various colors from flesh tones to pink, yellow, and brown. Various sensual representations of the human body are particularly abundant and diverse here. We also visit the largest temple, Kandariya Mahadeo, dedicated to the god Shiva.

After lunch, we'll take the high-speed Vande Bharat Express train to Agra. Arrival in Agra at 8:55 PM. Transfer to the hotel and overnight stay in Agra.

19.11.2024: AGRA-DELHI

Visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise for breathtaking views and fewer crowds. Please note that the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.
The Taj Mahal, one of the most iconic buildings in the world, was built by Shah Jahan in honor of his wife Mumtaz. The construction took over 20 years. We will stop at the Taj Mahal during sunrise - the most charming and peaceful time - to appreciate the legendary beauty of this symbol of love.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, farewell dinner at a local restaurant. No accommodation in Delhi. After dinner, transfer to the international airport to catch the flight back home.
