The lovely valley of Paro contains a wealth of culture, beautiful scenery, and numerous myths and legends. It houses several of Bhutan’s most ancient places of worship, religious communities, a national museum, and the only airport in the country. Chomolhari, standing tall at 7314 meters, is a magnificent sight at the northern tip of the valley. Its glacial waters flow through the deep gorges creating the Pa Chhu (Paro River). Paro is also a highly fertile valley in the kingdom, producing a large amount of well-known red rice from its terraced fields.
