Day 04: Cruise

After an early breakfast, depart for a jeep safari in Kaziranga's Central Range.

Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, spans around 430 square kilometres and is the main habitat for the Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros and the Indian Wild Water Buffalo. In addition, this park has the highest occurrence of Royal Bengal Tigers (one for every five square kilometres), which makes it an extremely diverse natural hotspot. The park has wet swamps and areas with dense elephant grass. Here, many Indian elephants, Indian bison, swamp deer, and Capped Langurs live.

Kaziranga National Park is often compared to the Serengeti in Africa due to the many wildlife and birds that live there. It is known as a great place for bird watching. You can find birds such as the Oriental Honey Buzzard, Black-shouldered Kite, White-tailed Eagle, Himalayan Griffon, and many others there. Returning to the boat, you will travel up the river with Kaziranga National Park on the right side to stop for the night at Vishnath.
05

Day 05: Cruise

Vishnath is the site of an Ahom-era Shiva temple, and it is the starting point for this morning's walk. Take a walk around the town and then get back on-board to continue journeying to the other side of Kaziranga. Be on the lookout for wild elephants, which have been seen in the area before, and if you are lucky, you might even spot a tiger.

During the afternoon, enjoy a leisurely cruise down the river. This will offer you an opportunity to see the endangered Gangetic dolphin and observe life in the villages along the riverbank as we steer past them. We will arrive at Dhansiri Mukh in the evening.
06

Day 06: Cruise

Dock this morning and go on a jeep safari to Kaziranga's Eastern Range. It's less popular, but rhinos love the grasslands there, and you may even see the rare Bengal Florican. Head back to the boat and continue your upstream cruise.End of the Programme
07

Day 07: Cruise

Today is a chance to observe life along the riverbanks as you travel upstream. The relaxed pace of life on the boat gives you an uncommon opportunity to sit and observe the world passing by, talk to other guests, or read. You will also have the opportunity to take a stroll through a nearby village, gaining an understanding of rural life in India.
08

Day 08: Cruise

You will arrive at Majuli Island during breakfast time. Majuli Island is one of the biggest river islands globally, and represents Assamese culture. Although frequently photographed, it is not often visited. The island is a stronghold of the peaceful religion known as neo-Vaishnavism. Moreover, the stylish island satras - some for unmarried monks, others for families - showcase a unique way of life where the faithful live modestly, presenting worship through songs, musical tools, and readings.

You will go to a monastery in Auniati that has a diverse museum, watch a dance show at Kamalabari monastery, and then sail across to Neamati Ghat on the other side. Later that day, you can explore a nearby village.
09

Day 09: Cruise

Today, you will go to a tea plantation in Jorhat. You will see how tea is made, from the bush to your cup. Please note that the factory is closed from December to mid-March. After that, you will travel to Sibsagar, which was the capital of the Ahom kings of Assam.

The Ahoms were originally Shan, but converted to Hinduism and ruled Assam for around 700 years until the 1820s. Their culture and architecture is an interesting mix of India and Southeast Asia. You will observe temples with dome-shaped tops and unique palaces. The reservoir near the temple is assumed to be the biggest hand-dug in the globe and a remarkable accomplishment of engineering that you will witness. Then, go back to your vessel, which will have travelled up to Neamati Ghat, which is near Jorhat.
10

Day 10: Cruise ends-Flight to Delhi

This morning you'll travel to Dibrugarh airport, a four-and-a-half hour drive through a typical colonial town that served as a major base for American flights to China over 'The Hump' during the Second World War. Otherwise, there's the possibility of driving for an hour and a half to Jorhat airport.

Good to know:

This programme , including the cruise and estimated driving times, could vary due to river and weather conditions. The terrain in Kaziranga National Park consists of grassy plains that may be closed during periods of near-flooding.

Get to know your Ship: ABN Charaidew II

This is the newest ship to join the fleet. It measures 44.50 metres in length by 11.00 metres in width and is equipped with two engines. Due to its extra-shallow draught and lower profile compared to conventional vessels, it can cruise at a faster pace.

ABN Charaidew II has a total of 18 cabins. The upper deck has 2 roomy deluxe cabins (covering 350 sq. feet) and 12 roomy twin/double cabins (covering 240 sq. feet). Meanwhile, 4 cabins with queen size beds (covering 170 sq. feet) are located on the main deck which we don't charge extra for.

The decor showcases a feeling of coming home to Assam, with hints of colonial sophistication integrated through traditional Assamese designs on hand-woven cotton materials.

All regular cabins on the ABN Charaidew II feature French balconies, whereas the two luxury cabins have their own private balconies.
