Bhaktapur, known as the place of devotees, is an ancient Newar city situated in the eastern corner of the Kathmandu Valley. The city is popular for its old Newar architectural style. The language spoken here is also different from other regions of Nepal. The Newar structured city still preserves the royal palace courtyards and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its rich heritage, pagodas and wood, metal and stone artworks. The speciality of the region is a special type of yoghurt called Juju Dhau.
