Nepal is a remarkable country. It has 40 different ethnic groups, 123 languages and 6 religions all coexisting peacefully without any reported conflicts. Nepal is a small country with vast biodiversity. Although it covers only 0.1% of the globe, it includes 8 of the world’s 14 highest mountains, including Mt Everest. Moreover, it boasts 33 climbable peaks, hundreds of trekking routes, and 20 national parks and conservation areas. Nepal is also home to 4.3% of the world’s known flora and fauna, 5.2% of mammals, and 9.5% of birds.

   According to the 2013 index, there are 981 World Heritage sites in 160 countries. Nepal has 10 of these sites, split into 2 groups: 8 cultural and 2 natural. The Kathmandu Valley has 7 World Heritage sites within 7 kilometres, with the remaining 3 located outside of the valley. Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Bouddhanath and Changu Narayan. There are seven heritage sites located within the Kathmandu Valley: All of these sites were established in 1979 AD. Additionally, there are three more heritage sites situated outside the Kathmandu Valley: Lumbini (established in 1997), Chitwan National Park (established in 1984) and Sagarmatha National Park (established in 1979). All of these World Heritage locations are visited as old temples and stupas, where you can observe a wide range of plant and animal species, through jungle safaris.
