A wonderful horse-riding vacation begins at Pushkar Fair, Rajasthan’s bustling event that features the largest gathering of horses and camels of the year. This is an amazing opportunity to witness the rural countryside of Rajasthan and its indigenous Marwari horses.

This amazing eight-day ride will take the riders through the most fascinating parts of Marwar Kingdom. Riding the Royal Marwari horse, guests will discover the traditional lands, the flat sandy riverbeds, the towering sand dunes, and the ancient granite mountains. They will have the opportunity to explore numerous age-old temples, picturesque rural villages, and meet the local tribes with centuries-old customs. Guests will encounter a wide variety of wildlife native to the region, including Blackbuck antelope, Porcupine, Demoiselle cranes, hyenas and leopards. Every day will conclude in a historic castle, lodges or a comfortable camp, offering a relaxing end to this unforgettable Indian journey.

Celebrating word famed Pushkar Fair is a very special way with a magnificent ride through the sandy desert tracks of Rajasthan on the native and temperamental Marwari horses. Discover the spirit of the Marwari breed, enjoy long canters and a well-trained horse, stay in some of Rajasthan’s finest heritage hotels, witness the glory of its royal past and camp under the stars in rural Rajasthan.

This Trip can be done anytime between September and April but combining it with Pushkar Fair will make it very special one.

Key informations:

Riding Ability:

Riders are required to have good intermediate riding skills and be capable of controlling horses in open terrain at a walk, trot, and canter. Some parts of the ride will be fast-paced, and riders should expect to spend 8 to 9 hours in the saddle on certain days.

Types of Horses:

The horses for this trip are locally bred Marwari horses with a height range of 14 to 16 hands.

Tack:

The horses wear English saddles and snaffle bridles. A small saddlebag is provided.

Maximum weight limit for riders is 90 kg. Heavier riders may be able to ride subject to their riding ability, but there may be an additional charge if two horses are needed. Please contact the office if you need additional information.

While horseback riding vacations are exciting and offer an opportunity to explore stunning landscapes, it’s important to note that there are some risks involved, and following a set of basic guidelines is crucial for your safety.

● You must be a skilled rider before joining a trip. If you are unsure about your riding abilities, contact the office for guidance.

● We advise wearing a hard hat, especially when you are still adjusting to the horses. It is crucial to stay safe as accidents can happen during the initial acquaintance between the rider and horse. Wearing a hard hat can prevent minor accidents.It is important to remember that your insurance may not cover you if you are not wearing a hat during an accident.

When riding in rough terrain, be sure to stay focused and avoid distractions such as the scenery and conversation. It is important to remember that your insurance may not cover you if you are not wearing a hat during an accident. Always prioritize riding safety.

Accomodation:

Accommodation is a mixture of beautiful heritage hotels, usually a fort or palace that has been tastefully converted into a hotel, modern 4 star hotels and Safari’s camping. The tents are spacious with plenty of room to stand up in and are much more comfortable than usual camping. There are comfortable camp beds. Bed linen and towels are provided. Separate Tents will be provided with washing and WC facility.

Tour Plan

01

Day 1: International flight to DELHI

Arrive Delhi, meeting and assistance upon arrival, transfer to hotel. Overnight.

Day 2: Delhi

Welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Today we take a tour of Old and New Delhi. All ruling houses have left their mark on the city and tried to outdo each other in the splendor of their palaces. We visit, among other things, the huge Friday Mosque and the impressive Qutub Minar complex as well as the impressive government district. We end the day at the Mausoleum of Humayun (UNESCO cultural monument).

Day 3: Delhi-Ajmer-Pushkar

Early in the morning at 6.10 am departure with the Shatabdi Express express train to Ajmer. Transfer to Pushkar.

On arrival check-in at your hotel. Later visit various temples and ghats and holy Pushkar Lake. There are more than 400 hundred temples in Pushkar but the main attraction being the temple of Lord Brahma, the only temple in India dedicated to Brahma. If it is the month of October/November then you are lucky to enjoy the world famous cattle fair of Pushkar. Rest of the time completely free to explore the Pushkar on your own.

Overnight in magnificient Pushkar Palace or Jagat Palace Hotel.

Day 4: IN PUSHKAR

Take part in Pushkar Fair, a remarkable gathering of camels and horses in Rajasthan. Enjoy performances of traditional dances and witness numerous events and shows involving not only livestock but also cultural performances.

Socialize with fellow riders, enjoy beverages and supper at Dundlod. On the second day, have breakfast at Dundlod. On the second day, have breakfast at Dundlod. Meet the horses and go for a two-hour afternoon ride around Dundlod. Have dinner and spend the night at Dundlod Fort, a magnificent traditional Rajput fort constructed in 1750.

Day 5: PUSHKAR-UDAIPUR

Leave for Udaipur after breakfast. Rest of the day free in Udaipur to relax or do your own activity.

Day 6: IN UDAIPUR

After breakfast, you will start the sightseeing tour. You will visit the largest and most beautiful city palace in India. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola and see the beautiful old buildings. The setting sun will shine on the old ramparts of Udaipur. In the evening, you will go to the art school where you can see the famous Miniature paintings of Udaipur. You will also have free time for shopping. Dinner will be served at a lovely restaurant on the lake.

Day 7: UDAIPUR-RANAKPUR-NOVI

Transfer from Udaipur to Novi. On the way, visit the renowned 15th century Jain Temples at Ranakpur. Reach Novi Farm Cottages in time for a calming outdoor lunch. Afterward, receive a thorough briefing about the horse safari and have time to acquaint yourself with the horses. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a 1-2 hour introductory ride to get a sense of your horse and riding equipment.

Day 8: NOVI FARM-LUXURY CAMP (RIDE)

The opening day of the ride will acquaint you with the stunning Marwar desert scenery. The terrain is mostly even, except for one hill climb, which provides lovely vistas. The travel party will reach a tribal Rebari village. Mera is a village where a group of Rebaris reside, who are semi-nomadic shepherds with flocks of sheep and goats. You will have luxurious camping for accommodation.

Day 9: LUXURY CAMP-BHENSWARA

An early morning start today as we ride through charming sandy valleys below the ancient granite mountains of Asrana. Our lunch will be at a farmer's cottage, and along the trail, we'll witness a good habitat for leopards and their prey. We keep up a good pace and arrive at our destination of Bhenswara by sunset. Afterwards, guests can enjoy this vibrant 18th-century manor house and unwind by the pool. The family in residence will provide dinner.

Day 10: BHENSWARA-BHAWRANI (RIDE)

Leaving the hills today, we travel to sandy terrain where grouse and small game are plentiful in Bhavrani. During our visit, we will stop to witness the traditional art of rug making at a cultural exhibition held at Bhavrani, a recently renovated noble house that has stood for over 300 years.

Day 11: BHAWRANI-RAKHI (RIDE)

Today, the village hosts an Opium ceremony and afterwards, we will travel to Rakhi. This region is home to various animals like blackbuck, Indian gazelle, desert fox and blue bull antelopes. We will arrive in the village of Rakhi for a late lunch. In the evening, you can take a stroll in the village followed by watching the sunset over the sand dunes while enjoying a drink.

Day 12: RAKHI-BHADRAJUN (RIDE)

Today we ride east of Rakhi, across flat lands with tall grasses all around us.  We'll stop for lunch at a picturesque lake where demoiselle cranes can be seen in abundance. At midday, we'll arrive at the vast salt pans, and this afternoon we'll ride over high sand dunes with some of the most beautiful landscapes in the region. We'll end the day riding through Rama valley to reach the historic 16th-century Bhadrajun Fort.

Day 13: BHADRAJUN-CHANOD (RIDE)

Today we'll have a faster ride, leaving the Bhadrajun Mountains and returning to the Marwar Kingdom's desert. At the end of the ride, the beautiful Chanod Garh will be our last stop, where we'll get a fantastic surprise. As we pass through the Bishnoi Tribe's villages. The Bishnoi Tribe loves nature, and they often wear white turbans and clothing. Preserving biodiversity and encouraging good animal husbandry is among the twenty-nine principles of their religion - they were the original nature conservationists.

Day 14: CHANOD-JODHPUR

This morning, we will see Jodhpur's famous citadel. It dominates the city from the top of a striking rocky cliff. Meherangarh Fort is among the biggest in India. It occupies a fantastic spot around 120 metres above the city. The remainder of the day is free to explore this charming city at your own pace.

Day 15: JODHPUR-DELHI Flight back home

After breakfast transfer to the airport to connect flight to Delhi. If time permints, you can have a sightseeing programme in Delhi. Otherwise transfer straightaway to the international airport to catch your flight back home.

You can end the tour here and we will transfer you to Delhi to connect your international flight back home.

Day 16: JODHPUR-JAIPUR Flight

In the morning fly to Jaipur. On your arrival to the charming Pink City of India check-in at your hotel. Time free for leisure. This is the only city in the world symbolizing the nine divisions of the universe through the nine rectangular sectors subdividing it. In the evening take a walking tour of the colorful streets and bazaars of Jaipur City. The beauty of Jaipur is that its unique architecture and town planning is visible at even the most common places such as its squares and lanes. Night stay in your hotel.

Day 17: IN JAIPUR

After breakfast, proceed on a full-day sightseeing tour of Jaipur. Tour the Amber Fort - the capital of the state till 1728. Visit Jagmandir or the Hall of Victory that glitters with thousand mirrors, Jal Mahal and Temples of Kali. Enjoy an elephant ride on your ascent to Amber Fort and behold panoramic views of the city along the way.

In the afternoon, visit the Maharaja’s City Palace and Jantar Mantar, drive past Hawa Mahal or The Palace of Winds and past the rose-pink residential and business quarters of Jaipur. After a day of sightseeing and discovering the different colors of Jaipur, return to your hotel and spend the night.

Day 18: JAIPUR-AGRA

 After breakfast, drive to the city of Taj, Agra.

We will stop at Fatehpur Sikri on the way to Jaipur. Fatehpur Sikri, located 40 km from Agra, is an abandoned city built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 to honor the great Saint Sheikh Salim Chisti. The saint blessed Akbar and prophesied the birth of three sons to the then childless emperor. Akbar used Fatehpur Sikri as his capital and the city was active for 14 years. Sadly, it eventually became deserted and ruined after Akbar left the city. Water scarcity caused this city to be abandoned. You can see the stunning, intact structures in the 'Ghost City' that embody the grandeur of the Mughal empire at its peak. These include the Jama Masjid, tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal Palace, and other palaces.

Afternoon go see the impressive Red Fort. Emperor Akbar laid the foundation of the fort in 1565 and the construction continued until the time of Shahjahan. The tall red stone structure extends for approximately 1.5 miles, commanding a turn in the river Yamuna to the northwest of the Taj Mahal. The building is noteworthy for its seamless fusion of Hindu and central Asian architectural designs.

Day 19: AGRA-DELHI

You will be visiting the Taj Mahal at sunrise, built in 1630 by Shah Jahan to honor his queen Mumtaz Mahal. We will start at 6 am. This impressive building is a beautifully crafted work of art made from white marble. It shows the incredible ability of 20,000 craftsmen who came from Persia, Turkey, France, and Italy and worked together for 17 years to complete this "Love Poem in Marble." Return to the hotel for breakfast.

Drive to Delhi after breakfast.

Evening/night flight back home. In case your flight is on the next day, we will book a room in Delhi for you.
