Festivals of India Tours

“Unity in Diversity” defines Bharat, India. People of all faiths and religions live in unity and celebrate various festivals throughout the country. There is no other country in the world where the urge for religious travel is as strong as in India. Fortunately for Hindus, most pilgrimage sites are in scenic locations in the Himalayas or near the sea or rivers. In such a vast country with so many different religions, there is probably not a single day in the Indian calendar that is not marked by a festival or celebration. Makar Sankranti, Republic Day, Independence Day, Desert Festival, Holi, Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day, Janmashtami, Marwar Festival, Dussehra, Pushkar Fair, Diwali and Christmas are some of the national festivals celebrated throughout India. A massive parade by the Army, Navy and Air Force, displaying the latest military hardware, is held on 26 January to celebrate Republic Day. It reflects the pride, glory and joy of independent India. Then there are festivals for all occasions, which include festivals of colours, festivals to celebrate the change of seasons, festivals associated with the harvesting or sowing of crops, etc. A celebration with dance and music is required for every happy occasion. But the celebration of these festivals is not the same for all the people of the country. There are also festivals associated with pilgrimages. Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Sikh pilgrimage centres are located in almost every nook and corner of India and attract millions of devotees who travel from one part of the country to the other. For example, millions of people flock to HARIDWAR or PRAYAG (Allahabad) for the KUMBH MELA (celebrated every 12 years). While the dates of the national festivals are known, other festivals follow the lunar calendar. The dates change almost every year. However, the dates do not vary too much.

If you are planning to include an Indian festival in your itinerary, please contact us in advance or mention your wish while sending the filled up form on the website. We will be more than happy to help you make travelling to India more enjoyable and fulfilling. Our team keeps itself updated with the dates of the various festivals. These are known to us in advance.
